Home Remedies For Toothache

There are many home remedies for toothache that you can use at home to relieve the discomfort. Among the oldest remedies for toothache are cloves, which have antiseptic properties. Simply extract the clove’s oil and apply it to the affected area. Clove oil contains eugenol, which can relieve toothache pain. You can also apply teabags to the affected area, as they contain tannins that can help relieve the pain. Another popular choice is peppermint tea, which contains menthol, which has numbing effects.

Oregano oil

Oregano oil is an inexpensive herbal remedy that can temporarily relieve a toothache. It can be applied to a problematic tooth with a q-tip or made into a mouthwash. However, it should only be used as a temporary relief. For more permanent results, seek the help of a dentist.

It works by reducing the swelling of the tooth and easing the pain. It’s an antiseptic and can also kill germs that cause toothaches. For a quick remedy, apply a few drops of oregano oil to the affected area. Applying it once or twice a day can help relieve toothaches and prevent them from coming back.

Another common home remedy is oil pulling. This involves mixing an essential oil like oregano with a carrier oil like olive or coconut oil. This remedy is very effective and can improve your breath. You should follow the directions on the bottle when using essential oil.

Peppermint tea

A cup of peppermint tea can relieve your toothache, and it can also be used to treat gum infections. While peppermint tea is best for a toothache that occurs on the gums, it cannot reach bacteria or nerves that are located inside a tooth. In addition, it may stain your teeth. So, before you try peppermint tea for toothache, be sure to consult a dentist.

Peppermint is known for its antibacterial and pain-relieving properties. Applying oil to a painful tooth is another way to relieve a toothache. Peppermint contains menthol, which can soothe pain and reduce swelling. When a toothache occurs, you can also apply a cold compress to the affected area.

Hydrogen peroxide rinse

Using a hydrogen peroxide rinse for toothache is a great way to alleviate the pain and inflammation of the affected tooth. It works by killing bacteria and preventing infection. It can also help reduce inflammation of the surrounding tissues. This rinse is cheap and can be purchased at local pharmacies or supermarkets. You simply mix two parts hydrogen peroxide with one part water and rinse your mouth with the mixture for 30 to 60 seconds. This treatment can be repeated up to three times a day.

In addition to hydrogen peroxide rinse, you can use a mixture of hydrogen peroxide mouthwash with water to relieve your toothache. When you use this mixture, it is important to remember not to swallow it. Once you rinse your mouth with it, you should rinse it thoroughly with water. You can also apply clove oil to the tooth to provide pain relief.

Willow bark

Willow bark contains salicin, which is an anti-inflammatory substance. However, this substance should not be taken by people with certain conditions or who are on certain medications. It is also not recommended for children under 16 years of age. If you are suffering from a toothache, you should seek professional help to treat it.

Willow bark can be applied externally to the affected area and can be applied as a compress. To apply a willow bark compress, mix 2 cups of water with 3/4 oz of dried bark and let sit for at least ten minutes. Afterward, dip a washcloth into the mixture and place it on the affected area. This compress can be used for up to 20 minutes.

White willow bark contains salicin, an anti-inflammatory compound. This substance is converted by the liver into salicylic acid. This compound relieves pain by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins. It has also been found to reduce the pain and inflammation associated with toothache.

Turmeric paste

Turmeric is a natural remedy that has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and analgesic properties. It can temporarily ease tooth pain. Whether you have an acute or chronic toothache, you can make a paste at home by mixing a teaspoon of turmeric powder with water and applying it to the affected area. You can also use turmeric paste mixed with raw honey to treat the toothache. Aside from turmeric, you can also use thyme, a herb that has anti-microbial properties, to relieve tooth pain. The active ingredient in thyme, thymol, is anti-bacterial and antifungal.

Apart from toothache relief, turmeric paste contains anti-inflammatory properties and can be used to prevent and treat gum disease. You can even rub turmeric paste on the affected area twice a day. Turmeric contains curcumin, which has strong anti-inflammatory properties and can help reduce inflammation in the mouth.
